Meet our four new assistant coordinators

We have four new assistant coordinators who have recently joined Team InLife. Meet Melissa, Mandy, Jade and Sophie.

InLife has recently expanded our team across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria with four new assistant coordinators.

The assistant coordinator role is designed as a career stepping stone to help support workers learn valuable skills to keep progressing their careers in the disability sector and become coordinators.

Our coordinators are responsible for managing support worker teams around a client.

Melissa Doherty (Melbourne)

Mel is excited to be growing her career at InLife after starting out as a support worker. Mel had been a stay-at-home mum (she has eight kids!) for more than a decade when a friend suggested she try disability work. She was a natural fit and loves being able to bring the caring side of her personality to work. On the downlow, she also can’t resist a live music gig, especially 80s classics.

Mandy Scott (Melbourne)

With a background in administration and accounts, Mandy made a career change during the Covid-19 pandemic. She had started studying counselling and wanted a more fulfilling job where she could make a difference. Her interest in disability was also sparked by her daughter, a psychology graduate, working in the sector. Mandy found support work lined up with her values and she has stepped up from Assistant to Assistant Coordinator at InLife. Her favourite part of the job is getting to know clients and build relationships. She is continuing to study counselling and enjoys keeping fit and hanging out with her two Kelpies.

Jade Giles (regional Victoria)

Growing up on cattle and sheep farms, Jade learnt the importance of having a can-do attitude and helping out. She worked as a farmhand before getting into disability support work in 2018. Her interest in the industry was sparked by her youngest brother who was born with small kidneys and needed frequent medical treatment. Away from work Jade enjoys gardening and looking after her menagerie of pets including six cats, two dogs and three horses on 20 acres in regional Victoria.

Sophie Arblaster (Melbourne)

Sophie first started working in disability part-time while studying psychology and sociology. She enjoyed it so much that she continued working as a support worker for more than 20 years. During that time, Sophie was able to work with people long-term including some young clients who she saw grow-up. She loves seeing people reach their goals and is excited about taking on new challenges herself as an assistant coordinator. Away from work she is a dog-lover and has an American Staffy called Grover.
