Support through extreme weather events
28 October 2022
The threat of flooding in regional Victoria saw two clients temporarily relocate to Geelong where they continued to be supported by InLife.
Get to know our newest assistant coordinators at InLife. Welcome to the team Syliva, Huia, Jasdeep and Tobie!
The Assistant Coordinator role at InLife is designed as a stepping stone for people wishing to pursue a career in disability and progress to a Coordinator role in the future.
Our InLife Coordinators provide a single point of contact for clients and manage their support team.
Meet our newest Assistant Coordinators:
Sylvia Parizek, Geelong
Sylvia studied and worked as a counsellor before switching to disability support during the COVID-19 pandemic. She wanted to help people in a hands-on-way, not just over zoom.
Sylvia quickly gained experience with clients with a range of complex needs. She is interested in behavioural issues and loves supporting clients to reach their goals.
Outside of work, Sylvia's a keen swimmer in summer and enjoys a trip to the beach. At home, she has a dog, cat and bird, who (luckily) cohabit happily together.
Huia Tongue, North and West team
A chef for more than 18 years, Huia made a career change to disability support work after having her two children.
She loves being able to work one-on-one with clients and is always looking for different ways people can be supported to reach goals.
Huia also enjoys sharing her cooking skills, from making nutritious main meals with clients to whipping up delicious desserts (chocolate brownies are a fave!).
She'll jump at any opportunity for a camping trip or to get outdoors with her kids including motorbike riding and clay target shooting.
Jasdeep Singh, South and East team
Jas started his working life in India helping out with his family’s DVD business before heading to NZ where he worked on a Kiwi fruit farm while studying business management in Rotorua. Later, he managed service stations and worked in customer service.
Jas discovered disability support work last year and hasn’t looked back. Jas loves being able to support people to reach their goals and enjoys constantly learning new things about the sector.
His hobbies include hiking and long drives. He once went on a spur-of-the-moment 16-hour trip to Cape Reinga, the most northern part of NZ. He arrived at 4am, just in time to see the sun rise!
Tobie Taylor, North and West team
Tobie joined InLife after almost a decade working in the disability sector, mainly in residential settings. After working as an Assistant for about a year she was promoted to Assistant Coordinator.
Tobie says working in disability helped “bring her out of her shell” and she loves getting to know clients. She’s always up for a challenge and enjoys continuing to work on the floor. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her young grandchildren and has a Labrador dog.
