How do I prove I'm fully vaccinated?

“Fully vaccinated” means you’re up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines, as per the ATAGI guidelines.

You can choose one of two ways to prove you're vaccinated:

  1. COVID-19 Digital Certificate
  2. Immunisation history statement (Note: this will include all your immunisations

You can use the government’s interactive guide for more information about how to download your proof of COVID-19 vaccinations. We’ve also outlined your options below.

The best option for you will depend on whether you can access Medicare.

What happens if I'm not eligible for Medicare?

The best option is to register for an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI). This number identifies you for healthcare purposes.

People who are eligible for Medicare automatically receive an IHI. For everyone else, it's a manual process.

Service Australia's interactive guide will lead you through how to apply for an IHI.

Help is available

You can also ring the Department of Human Services on 1300 361 457 and ask them to link your IHI to your MyGov account for you. We've had feedback that they'll stay on the line to make sure you can access your certificate.

InLife's Bernardo Bamberg hails from Brazil (via Canada) so he's got first-hand experience of how to register for an IHI. Bernardo is more than happy to provide you with guidance about how the process works if you get stuck. You can email Bernardo at bernardo.bamberg@inlife.org.au.
