Rallying for the NDIS on a National Day of Action

Lynne Foreman is organising a rally to put NDIS funding in the spotlight ahead of the federal election.

InLife client Lynne Foreman is urging both sides of politics to defend the NDIS as she rallies against funding cuts as part of a national day of action.

Lynne, a long time disability rights and NDIS campaigner is a key organiser of the Geelong #DefendOurNDIS rally being held at Cunningham Pier from noon on Thursday, April 28.

It is one of numerous events being held across the country as part of a campaign by Every Australian Counts.

The National Day of Action (NDIS) is held annually, but is increasingly political this year because of the looming federal election on May 21.

“We want to make sure that both Labor and Liberal know that you can't cut the NDIS,” Lynne said.

“I know there are plans being cut and there’s no logical reason for it.”

Lynne, was involved in campaigning for the creation of the NDIS and said she was one of the first people to be given funding for a plan under the scheme back in 2013.

“We know it’s (the NDIS) not as good as it used to be, when it first came about,” she said.

“I really don’t want to see them start cutting funding where it’s not necessary.”

Lynne said the rally was about “people power” and NDIS participants, family and friends would be attending.

“We are meeting at the same place in Geelong where we campaigned for the NDIS,” she said.

“We are hoping a lot of people come along - the more the merrier!”
