Why being named a Best Workplace matters to us

InLife has been named in the Top 10 Best Workplaces™ in Australia 2025 — recognition of the supportive, client-first culture our people and clients build together every day.

There are awards that look good on a shelf, and there are awards that say something real about the people behind them.

Being named in the Top 10 Best Workplaces™ in Australia 2025 by Great Place To Work® falls into the second category. It matters not because of the trophy, but because of what it tells us: our people feel supported, valued and proud to be part of InLife. That is the best recognition we could ask for.

This year, more than 50 large organisations entered the program. To be named in the Top 10, and to stand alongside some of the biggest and most respected names in Australia — from REA Group and Salesforce to Specsavers and Hilton — is something we’re very proud of. To be listed next to companies of that scale, as the only not-for-profit and the only disability and healthcare organisation, says a lot about the strength of our culture.

What makes this even more meaningful is that it comes directly from our people. On the Great Place To Work® survey, 89% of our team said InLife is a great place to work. That is the clearest sign we are on the right track.

And the impact of that culture extends to our clients too. In our latest client survey:

  • 93% said they get along with the team who supports them

  • 97% feel comfortable speaking up if something isn’t right

  • 90% would recommend InLife to family or friends

These results tell us that when our people feel connected and supported, our clients feel it too.

At InLife, culture isn’t written on a wall. You find it in the small, everyday moments: a coordinator stepping in to cover a shift because they know continuity matters. A Friday “watercooler” post that sparks a thread of banter, pet photos and song recommendations. A family day at the zoo where clients, support workers and kids chase each other between enclosures, laughing like old friends.

It’s these ordinary but powerful moments that add up to something extraordinary: a workplace where people genuinely care about each other and about the clients we support.

We often describe InLife as a community as much as a workplace. That shows up when clients help interview new team members because compatibility matters more than a CV. When coordinators know their teams inside out, not just on paper but as people.

When we say “client first,” this is what we mean. Support that feels personal. Relationships that last. And people — whether staff or clients — who feel at home here.

Recognition as a Best Workplace is not a finish line. If anything, it’s motivation to keep going. To keep investing in wellbeing and growth. To keep building teams that last. To keep creating space for fun, connection and purpose.
